Whenever I visit a new place, I always wonder how do the local people live, how do they spend their time, what do they eat, so I look for charming homes and gardens, which are often filled with history of the past.
This is how I discovered this little paradise, hidden in the north-eastern France, in Thonnance-Lès-Joinville, called Les Jardins de Mon Moulin (The Gardens of My Mill). It is very close to gorgeous Joinville, and conveniently on the way to our next destination and towards Germany.Once you arrive at the gate of Les Jardins, park your car, get inside, purchase the tickets and relax for hours and hours in this beautiful setting. It is an ancient water mill, with more than 12 acres of stunning gardens, with water streams, two black swans and ducks, and if you are lucky you may be able to spot a white and blue peacocks as you stroll around.
The garden is well maintained, with gorgeous flowers, trees, shrubs, aromatic and medicinal, and herbs. We were too late to see the amazing display of 800 varieties of peonies, when we visited at the end of August, so make sure to visit between mid May to mid June, if you would like to see the peonies. We really enjoyed, the garden, which was absolutely stunning, and I just wished we had more time to stay for at least a few hours. Definitely, making a note in my calendar to return at the end of Spring one day. ❤️
The garden is open on some days of the week, from mid May to early October only, so be sure to check the current opening times on the garden's website: https://lesjardinsdemonmoulin.fr/
