Welcome to Corte San Mattia, Verona, Italy

The taxi parked in front of the reception at Corte San Mattia. We have stepped out of the car in awe, surrounded by lush greenery, with grapes hanging down from above. We were welcomed by the scent of poplar trees and cosy, atmospheric sound of cicadas.
The beautifully decorated reception was not any less welcoming. We were quickly taken care of and invited for a refreshing fruit and a mint drink (a blessing in this heatwave) before seeing our rooms. The time has slowed down.

Drinking fresh water infused with mint and citrus fruits, made us feel we have finally arrived in our beautiful destination. What a difference it made to the hustle and bustle of Milan. The temperature was sky high, somewhere in the top 30s. We felt completely relaxed, cooling down in a breezy, almost empty (at this time) restaurant. Next to us was a ceiling high cabinet, full of organic preserves, olive oils and jams, produced with love, right there on the farm.
After the warm welcome, we were taken to our little cottage, located at the eastern part of the scenic garden.

Our Torretta House was a tiny tower cottage, a rural apartment laid out on three floors, with a private terrace/patio, an inside kitchen and a small living room on the ground floor, with stairs leading up to the first floor. The first bedroom was on the first floor, with windows and shutters opening right above the cosy terrace, bathroom and another set of stairs leading up to the third floor and second bedroom.

Once inside, all you wanted to do was to open the windows and marvel at the fabulous view overlooking stunning landscape with poplar trees and Verona's romantic historic center in the distance.

But we decided to leave all our luggage unpacked and took a local mini bus, down the hills to beautiful Verona instead.
